Estimates for in-person card payments only, using each provider's published rates and first-location software price, read from their US websites on October 30, 2026. Excludes hardware, extra devices, add-ons, keyed and online payments, and any negotiated rates. Sources are listed below.
How we calculate it
- Software: the first-location monthly price of each plan, times 12.
- Processing: your annual card sales times the published percentage, plus the per-transaction fee times your number of transactions (sales ÷ average check).
- Tallo Plus uses interchange-plus: your estimated interchange plus 0.35% and 8¢ per transaction.
- Effective rate is the total yearly cost divided by your yearly card sales.
Calculator questions
Why only in-person payments?
In-person rates are the ones every provider publishes, and they're the bulk of a restaurant's card volume. Keyed-in and online rates are usually higher everywhere, and not every provider publishes them.
Why isn't hardware included?
Hardware varies a lot — some providers bundle it into a monthly subscription, others sell it upfront, and Tallo runs on affordable Android tablets. We note bundled hardware next to each plan so you can factor it in.
My rate is different from what's shown.
Some merchants negotiate custom rates, especially at higher volumes. Divide your total monthly processing fees by your card sales to get your real effective rate, and compare that.
Can I keep my processor and still use Tallo?
Yes. Every Tallo plan supports bringing your own processor with no penalty. In that case you pay Tallo's software price and your processor's rate.
